I’m not saying that to be facetious, but that statement is obviously true for a lot of substances.
And still some of those might also be effective in the form of pills for helping individuals with specific issues. One does not discount the other.
Or maybe it means that if taking psychedelics is embedded in culture in a way that it is neither seen as treatment nor as pure recreation, but as a communal and spiritual experience it will have an effect on communities.
The challenge that brings for Western societies is that we typically don’t have much of that kind of communities in the first place. Maybe we can start that cultural shift by handing out sacramental bread with a few drops of acid?
