If you house is the typical USA plastic-gum-cardboard-plaster McMansion, yes, a F3 will damage it. If it is a properly built house like everywhere else in the world, maybe a window or two will break. As with plenty other things in USA, there is a business out of building crappy houses with sub standard materials for the weather.
