It’s a long-standing custom, made interesting by the fact that Catholic and Protestant traditions number them differently. Plus, what @anon67050589 said.
Yes, the Jews, the Protestants and the Catholics tend to number the commanments differently. Although, iirc, the protestants cheat and combine the last two, calling then the “ninth and tenth commandments”.
