It’s colder in San Diego today.

Is this the 2nd record breaking day in Antarctica this week?

Either way it’s not looking good. The high in DC was 55 and even that’s unseasonably warm even for DC.

But remember,it’s summer there now.

It is warmer than winter today in Montreal.

Anyone who wants to know about cold should read about Shackleton’s expedition stuck on the ice, or Admiral Byrd’s “Alone” where he tries to spend the winter closer to the South Pole, alone. “Warm” is only relative.

Technically this is on an island

Highest temp on the mainland was 65° F

Try this one:

The bit where he had to saw off his frozen blisters to regain the use of his hands is memorable. As is the bit where they have to leapfrog ponies across drifting sea ice while being chased by Orcas.
