Apple Pencil gets rave review

I’m not really looking for a 1:1 desktop/laptop replacement like you are. The Mac took many years before becoming anything like a complete solution itself for pro art (and I’d argue that it still isn’t, and might not ever be, really). But this is the first product which shows promise because of how essential the stylus is.

Whether that puts it into toy territory depends on how you use it, I guess.

The battery issue doesn’t even phase me. If it’s as good as described, the pencil will likely require replacing before the battery does (unless it has something for tip replacement).

well best of luck with your new ipad pro if you get one. let the rest of us happy mutants know how it does and doesn’t work for you. real world experience accounts are always interesting and helpful. cheers!

I recommend the following apps from my experience:
AstroPad (use the ipad like a cintiq for photoshop on your mac)
ArtRage (natural media emulation)
Procreate (great all around art app)
Pixelmator (best mobile photoshop replacment)
Tayasui Sketches Pro (good drawing app)
Paper 53 (paper journal replacement)
Autodesk Sketchbook (great but only if you have an autodesk subscription)
Photoshop Sketch (kinda meh, but adobe so likely will see lots of improvements in the near future for the pro)
Auryn Ink (water color)

I’ll stick to Wacom. But I should mention…
