Not a great sign that they still consider our time the Late Cenozoic. At least it’s not the very end of the Cenozoic, I guess. :frowning:

The ancient ruins of Baalbek, a treasure of human history and a testament to the civilizations that shaped our world, now stand perilously close to destruction. This monument, recognized by @UNESCO for its profound cultural and historical significance, is not just stones and relics of the past. Baalbek sanctuary represents the very soul of Lebanon, a bridge between ancient civilizations and modern humanity. Today, rockets have fallen in the vicinity of Baalbek, threatening the stability of these ruins. Even if not directly hit, the proximity of such violence risks irreversible damage to this symbol of human achievement. It is devastating to think that in the midst of conflict, not only are lives at stake, but our shared heritage is being endangered. The world must not turn a blind eye to this. The preservation of Baalbek and other priceless Lebanese monuments is a responsibility that transcends borders. We must raise our voices against the destruction of Lebanon, not just its people, but also its rich history, which tells the story of humanity itself. Those treasures must be protected, for Lebanon, for the world, and for future generations.

Sad that genuinely old pieces were bodged together with whatever. I assume they’ve lost much of their value as historical artifacts since there probably is no record of where they were found.
