Arizona man fakes kidnapping to get out of work

I think there’s a lot more to this guy’s story. I’ve had patently abusive jobs that I couldn’t bear and yet really couldn’t quit because of financial circumstances, or commitments to the people involved. The anxiety is something that becomes crushing. If he went this far, something is amiss.

I have no idea what he is going through, but many of the people I have worked with who have given wild excuses for missing work suffered from anxiety, and other issues that made being there difficult. There were some days you could tell that being there would be so intolerable that they would have said anything.

It bothers me that now he has the social media/blog hurricane pounding his life too. It will probably affect his ability to get a better job predictably, too. Can’t we react to these situations with concern for someone who is obviously not where he needs to be in life?
