Yeah, this was all meant to provoke a sense of shame, but it’s hard to do that when they’re actually feeling proud of it all.
Senator Burch’s statement was a condemnation, but all the Republicans were hearing was that it’s all working precisely as intended.

I’m glad that Ms Burch spoke out, especially in her role as a legislator (though as she says, she shouldn’t have to do that).
