The artist name is Daisuke Samejima. The post should be updated with this information. Thank you.
these folks will let you 3d print something like this from a spherical panorama photo: https://scandysphere.co
Baller painting!
From my research on this topic Dick Termes is the OG spherical painter, he has been doing it for decades. He also wrote a great book https://termespheres.com/6-point-perspective/ on 6 point perspective which was even more important before there was spherical panoramic photography.
The flatball paintings are cool, but for some reason the carousel horse is the one that struck me the most.
Thanks ! Too bad he didn’t post any WIP I’d be curious to see how he trace his perspective lines.
This one with the bridge is quite impressive :
EDIT : There is one WIP photo, he use masking tape as guide for vertical lines.
not particularly cheap but might work for a one off
I was interested in their services but holy crap their prices are high. $500?!
As someone with a spherical camera and a 360 camera, I would think there would be some way of creating a slicing program that prints globe slices that can be cut out and put on a form…
I found a video about printing 360 photos, he mentions the ScandySphere, he also mentioned a SnapSphere (https://www.snapspheres.com) which is significantly cheaper (starting at $50), although still quite expensive. Both seem to have some disadvantages. He also mentions some paper craft items which still seem problematic. Here’s his video… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntUGkoHmcEk
I am kind of surprised that no one has created a spherical monitor that attaches to your phone via Bluetooth and you can upload 360 photos to for display… I mean, I can’t imagine that you couldn’t do something like that at quantity for $500 and make money.
