They didn’t overstep Sweden. Assange is still in the UK.
Some of the arguments above make no sense. The US didn’t snatch Assange in the dead of night. They are seeking extradition under international treaty. Perhaps the UK will decide the US extradition request has value, perhaps they won’t (eg Gary McKinnon). That is how this stuff is supposed to work.
Henry Kissinger is wanted for war crimes in Spain, and Chile tried to extradite him some years back for the Pinochet thing. (For that matter, Spain filed in London to extradite Pinochet to Spain for his actions in Chile.) Can we assume the people who think the US extradition request for Assange is monstrous were equally horrified by these imperialist attacks on Kissinger and Pinochet by Chile and Spain?
This is just going to go in circles. In large part because this is all just a huge clusterfuck on so many levels. About the one clear outcome of this discussion is that there’s no justice for anyone here. At all.
