Wow this is the most amazing picture I have seen in a while.
I can scarcely believe it’s something that lives on our planet.

Nudibranchs (/ˈnjuːdɪbræŋk/) are a group of soft-bodied, marine gastropod molluscs which shed their shells after their larval stage. They are noted for their often extraordinary colours and striking forms, and they have been given colourful nicknames to match, such as "clown", "marigold", "splendid", "dancer", and "dragon". Foxfire, also called fairy fire or chimpanzee fire, is the bioluminescence created by some species of fungi present in decaying wood. Omphalotus olearius, commonly known as the jack-o'-lantern mushroom, is a poisonous orange gilled mushroom that to an untrained eye appears similar to some chanterelles. It is notable for its bioluminescent properties. It is found in woodland areas in Europe, where it grows on decaying stumps, on buried roots or at the base of hardwood trees. It has also been reported from the Western Cape Province, South Africa. A similar, but phylogenetically distinct species found in eastern North America
Thank you for posting!
ETA: I forgot the bioluminescent fungi category. I have seen some of these in real life, including that “jack o’lantern” mushroom. Love those nighttime walks!

Incredible. Thanks for these.
I can’t believe I’ve never seen these things, nor come across a version of them in movies where the art directors were scrambling for an idea of “alien life form” or whatever.
The Crystalline Entity was a powerful, spaceborne creature characterized by a crystalline structure that resembled a large snowflake. It had warp speed travel capability, formidable size, and the ability to consume all life on a planet or starship....
etc.
