Gotta wonder if perhaps some of the lawyers defending these guys aren’t giving them subtle pushes towards doing just that. Telling them that of course they need to get on the stand and tell their story. It’s their right! and so forth. Acquiescing to demands to testify from their clients.
I hope not. Even those guys, especially those guys, deserve someone on their side giving them the best advice possible.
Admittedly even the most professional person will reach a point where if the client insists, you don’t try to persuade them.
