Ayn Rand, penis-curser

Up until a little over a week ago there was a gentleman named “Rand Paul” running for the Republican nomination for President on a Libertarian platform. So yes, apparently.

(I know his family denies he was named after Ayn Rand but frankly I find that claim hard to swallow, especially considering the family’s long-held libertarian views.)

Both “Dianetics” and “Atlas Shrugged” have the tear-out page in the back where the swayed can be part of the club.

For some reason I thought you meant Spiked Magazine, i wouldn’t be surprised if they were taking Koch money given their Trotskyist/Libertarian-Capitalist split personality.

Thanks for the Friday afternoon guffaw!

Oh right, I think that is the one.

Ayn Rand was not popular in the UK when I was at school. We had the Socialist Workers Party and their various front organizations instead.

I ended up reading the Socialist Worker for a while instead of Atlas Shrugged.

I’d never even heard of Ayn Rand until I moved here. Not sure if I was just sheltered, or if she was totally ignored in the UK.

The real question is whether she and Greenspan had a thing going since he was in her inner circle when a young man.

I believe Baba Yaga would have much more practice and effectiveness at cursing men’s genitalia. She is, after all, a practicing witch… oh, wait.

Totally ignored I think, and the whole ‘cult full of gullible kids’ thing was the SWP’s turf.

Probably just cooler.

Has anyone used the Lord of the Rings/Atlas Shrugged quote yet?"

“There are two novels that can transform a bookish 14-year-kld’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish daydream that can lead to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood in which large chunks of the day are spent inventing ways to make real life more like a fantasy novel. The other is a book about orcs.”

The one thing I like about Ayn Rand is that she cuckolded far above her “weight class”. Her choice of lover was much younger, already married and she resembled a sentient prune at the time. That is some strong cougar power! Plus Helen Mirren played her in the Showtime movie about her sleazy affair. Helen Mirren is pure British acting awesome.

Welp. Besides the whole free love , and witch’s curses thing, Rand hated libertarians, and was an atheist, so these tea partiers and lbertarians probably should find someone else to adore.

That’s because libertarian used to mean socialist or communist until about the 1960s. It still does in a lot of Europe.

That symbol looks like the Soviet Communist one trying to make love to an Anarchy symbol in some kind of Kama Sutra freakiness.
