Berlin SWAT raids yield arrests in theft of manhole-sized gold coin

See Canada, this is what happens when you try to make the biggest coin in the world! Next time, leave that machisimo to someone else, and stick to your glow-in-the-dark Toonies!

220lb manhole-cover

At that weight, it better be circular, or another of those classes of shapes that can’t fall down its own hole.

at that size, in order to be that weight, they didn’t scale the thickness in proportion to the diameter, that is for certain.

Officer McBigPockets thinks that it is unlikely the coin will be recovered.

The criminals were only caught because they were trying to exchange it for euros, obviously cad would do them no good.

Funny how this is not even on Germany-wide news.

They must all be in on it.

He probably asked Superman for help but doesn’t want to admit it.

It was in the mainstream press, both the the theft and now the arrest. But it’s not a particularly interesting piece of news, especially not with all G20 protests aftermath.

Yeah, it was kinda expensive, but it’s boring. It’s just gold and someone didn’t secure it enough.

You’re a cylinder shaped hole. huh huh. uh huh. huh

Who says he didn’t hire the thieves in the first place, then betrayed them and helped the Berlin police arrest them?

Of course, he would have made sure there was no evidence to prove that Bruce Wayne or Batman were involved.

Interestingly NHK World reported the incident. But then again they have a yen for strange crime stories.
