Has Fucking twinned with any other places, like Dildo, Newfoundland?
Just remember guys, identity politics is for losers, only socialism can save us.
Or Pitchforks and Torches. Because:
Russian meddling invalidates election.
Dangerous incompetence threatens world relations.
Massive Bait & Switch campaign fraud.
Deadline: Jan 1. This has to end.
You missed the part where Clinton won the popular vote, but the superfluous Electoral College handed the win to the less popular candidate.
I think it’s a Welsh town called T’wat.
ETA - no sorry, it’s Scottish town called Twatt.
Well, Bernie, if you hadn’t called Hillary “unqualified” before telling your followers that she had your endorsement, we might’ve seen a whole lot fewer jaded young voters who might’ve actually shown up to vote, and not be seeing this as a loss for the Democratic Party. But hindsight, yada yada, eh? Glad you’re working hard at the local level to make sure things go better next time.
Pales in comparison to the Republicans who trash-talked Trump during the primaries and are now absolutely groveling at his feet. Bernie calling Hillary unqualified hardly translates to him calling Trump qualified. It’s not a binary proposition.
There is a good chance the Democrats could win the House and Senate in 2018, and the presidency in 2020, based on disgust over and blowback from Trump’s incompetence. But actual, real, lasting small-d democratic change – voting protections and fair districting – will require a long, hard slog of winning over state legislatures.
Not Sexmoan, Philippines or Penile KY?. There are also towns called Blue Ball in Maryland, Delaware, Ohio, and two in Pennsylvania. Surely one of those can stand to be hooked up with Fucking.
Also, Big Bone Lick state park in Kentucky is near the towns of Sugar Tit and Beaver Lick, and none of those places is more than an hour from Blue Ball OH.
Absolutely. State level gerrymandering is a much more effective strategy that is much harder to fix because the sheer amount of apathy. This is where the key to victory is literally just getting young people to vote for every election even if they flip a goddamn coin in the booth. Just vote. Drawing random lots is less broken than the current state of voting.
At least the federal level can be repaired soon and isn’t following an economic collapse.
I absolutely agree – and didn’t mean to infer that at all. I feel that when Bernie promised not to attack his opponent and stay on-message, but then broke that promise to start mudslinging and call her “unqualified”, only to then tell his followers she was indeed qualified, he took what could’ve been an opportunity to engage the youth vote and ended up making himself look like “just a politician” to a lot of easily-jaded young people. And I think a lot of people simply didn’t show up because of that.
Maybe they could rename them to Trump Avenue?
It always made me happy, when I lived hear Big Bone Lick and Beaver Lick, that those places were so close to the Kentucky Ark.
Big Bone Lick combines two things that frighten and confuse the fundies: sexual innuendo and archaeology.
I disagree that Dems did nothing to fight gerrymandering. This is typically done at the state level, by republican controlled legislatures. Dems did wage (occasionally successful) legal challenges, by often had to get past republican-appointed judicial review before getting to the national level. The best thing that Dems can do to fight gerrymandering is win local and state elections.
The Democrats didn’t lose it. Sanders lost it.
"Millennials. This one is pretty clear-cut. Relative
to 2012, Hillary Clinton did worse among millennials by a considerable
amount. They turned out to vote in their usual numbers, but a lot of
them abandoned Clinton for third-party candidates. All told, I’d say
this cost Clinton about 5 percent of the millennial vote, which amounts
to 1-2 percent of the total vote. Trump, meanwhile, did as well with
millennials as Romney did in 2012.
Why? I realize we're all supposed to move on from this, but I blame
Bernie Sanders. He started out fine, but after his campaign took off and
he realized he could actually win this thing, he turned harshly
negative. Over and over, his audience of passionate millennials heard
him trash Clinton as a corrupt, warmongering, corporate shill. After he
lost, he endorsed Clinton only slowly and grudgingly, and by the time he
started campaigning for her with any enthusiasm, it was too late. I
understand that Bernie fans want to deny this obvious reality, but
honestly, is it any wonder that Clinton lost a big chunk of the
millennial vote?"
As far as I’m concerned, Sanders can just shut the fuck up now.
I’ll let it slide then.
Who should we be listening to instead? Clinton? She seems to have vanished off the face of the planet.
If we could get the pseudo-left to agree on how to achieve power and work with the party to achieve progressive goals, but I don’t think they understand coalitions.
Sanders wasn’t the problem. Some of his so-called fans sure remain so, though.
