I hate commenting on my own post, but I forgot to mention that red bean paste is called “anko.” However, it sounds rather similar to “unko,” which is Japanese slang (regional?) for excrement.
My mom is Japanese, so I grew up around anko mochi—and didn’t like it. As a child, I used to deride the stuff by calling it, well, you know.
