The lack of sample images raises suspicions for me.

Hey, considering the times the sketches were made, I suspect they weren’t really meant for publication but more like stage set sketches, things done to block out who is standing where, nailing down where buildings or props are so that they can be properly set “on stage”, and so on.
Or even worse, youthful sketches that a young Iain made, never expecting them to be published.
