The lawmakers who drafted the CROWN Act in Texas, the one that is now the law, say this school dress code is in violation. That should be enough! Why is the district fighting so hard? The litigation has to be expensive. Full page ads in the Houston Chronicle arenât cheap either.
Just change the policy. It isnât that hard. There are plenty of districts in Texas with sensible dress codes. Copy one of those.
But that would let the Black kid win!! We canât have that! Think of the impact on the poor white sensibilities! (/s)
Also, they want all their Black students to conform to white standards of fashion. Itâs white supremacy all the way down.
Iâm tempted to submit an Open Records request for how much this litigation is costing them.
