A U.S. congressman from Lafayette, La. where the cops recently murdered Trayford Pellerin just called for his supporters to murder the BLM protestors. “I’d drop any 10 of you where you stand” said the “law and order” representative fantasizing about mass murder. The congressman is a LEO who told his supporters "Welcome to the front lines, Ladies and Gentlemen. I suggest you get your mind right. I’ll advise when it’s time gear up, mount up, and roll out.”

Where do we cross the line into “incitement to murder?” Because if this is not it, I would very much like to know how much further it goes!

Police are trained to respond to violent emergencies with a violent response. Why do we train them for 4.5% of their job, but not the other 95.5%? Why do we pay them to do 95.5% of their job incompetently?

This is why we need to take that money back, and make sure most of the non-violent calls are handled by people with a different skill set.

Exactly. Mental health crisis? Send a team that specializes in that. They would have talked this guy down, been able to offer him care, and de-escalated things. Send the police to respond to a naked Black man in a mental health crisis? That’s killing him as sure as anything.

Kinda depends on what you think their job is.

Again. at least some consequences. It would be nice if we just stopped having these things happen, though. You know, as in, “It would be nice if the cops stopped murdering people.” The fact that they are beginning to face those consequences is only a bare bones start, though.

The least he can do, considering all the damage he facilitated with “Stop & Frisk.”

I wish these ladies all the good fortune in the world. I fear they will need it!

Though a promising idea, it’s never enough to settle an area - they have to be able to defend it. Unfortunately, every day we are reminded that there are groups that will never stop seeing Black people as targets. In the associated article the history of Black communities doesn’t go into much about Toomsboro (oh, that name).

It calls the Tulsa massacre a “race riot.” There was no mention of Rosewood, Texas. Hopefully, families in this initiative researched the political landscape of the area, because history has shown power shifts can also lead to violence (like in Wilmington, NC).
