I think the most striking thing is how ugly the design aesthetic is for most of these. Apple? What in the world are you thinking? Consensus seems to be that everyone hated Google’s old blob emoji but at least they had soul.

At least Facebook depicts someone singing. And Samsung adds two musical notes as a clue. Most of the other emojis have closed mouths, so who knows what they represent? Maybe they’re sports announcers.
