I’ve revisited her Zoo City several times. It has a few too many ideas in it, kind of a rookie mistake, but it’s really interesting. I thought The Shining Girls was amazing and was just too depressing to reopen, and I wasn’t surprised that she wrote it to process her feelings over a friend’s senseless murder.
