That’s actually what I meant, but in anycase it was hyperbole. Perhaps reducing costs to only 20% of what they are now is more reasonable. Although in the UK it costs the NHS a bit less than 10% of the US costs for doing a live birth. I’d expect there’s lots of room for improvement.
Whatever happens a universal healthcare system that does away with private insurance is universally less expensive than the abomination we have now. The only way it’d end up being worse is if we allowed republicans to participate in setting it up, since their entire MO is to sabotage everything the government does in order to prove to their base that the government they are a part of is inept.
