California family and dog may have died from toxic algae blooms while hiking

Our public infrastructure has made people so safe that some of them grew up with so little hardship that they have no understanding how dangerous the world is if you remove the civilization part.

Anywhere near an old gold mine, I’d be wary of the water sources. They used all kinds of nasty shit for that, like mercury and cyanide, and it could have contaminated even spring water.

My daughter has a friend who is very into WOO. They eat raw food because the “living water” is far superior to the dead water after being cooked(?)…okay I’m not sure because I got to living water and had to refrain from laughing. In any case, I’m sure the same people who believe in the “living water” in food are also into how much batter natural water is without all that unnatural additives that kill the natural goodness or maybe even the water itself.

Lots of cyanobacteria also have microcystins.

But yeah, and entire family, including a baby drinking water, then dying within a short range of each other? Sounds unlikely to be due to algal toxicity.

It doesn’t help that they were found “near the Merced River drainage in an area known as Devil’s Gulch.

Gerrish-Chung (or Chung-Gerrish, a choice dialect of L337,) have it down for a ballad of the light green splashies, complete with a round about bears working up a relish rather than digging in, in case Gerrish-Chung livers accumulated a poison. Sounds better than a story about the Baby Bjorn catching a branch and causing sudden chaos anyway. Or a gothic ninja bushbaby clade. Wasn’t even on fire when they hiked it.

I was growing some cyanobacteria on my window sill in a dish, but I finally got it too dry and it died on me. Oops, sorry little guys.

It was like a green jelly that would swell with water.

dood! just plonk a crystal in that “living water” and it will naturally align the elemental goodness and make for the spirit-cleansing, aura intensifying, life affirming elixer that water is supposed to be! (/s)

Just don’t eat it. At least without typing it.
