If taking dogs to lakes or rivers during the summer please check for algae blooms, oftentimes if by a large city they will have depts that monitor for this. Here in Austin in the last few summers people have had a number of dogs die because of toxic algae blooms, so please ask and check ahead of time and keep your pets safe
