Go for a two person fishing “kayak”. Solid and nearly unsinkable with open deck and low sides for a dog to get on or off board easily.

Most come with built in cup holders for your cold beverage of choice.

I just gave away a Tarpon 190 and I would not have tried to get my dog on that either. My dog is big tho.

When I see kayaks in stores I first look as to whether a dog might sit in/on it comfortably. I’m not in the market for a kayak and I don’t have a dog.

a girl can dream…

I don’t see an issue here

This looks like me and my cat when I try to eat a meal at the table (she’s on the taller side).

That’s definitely the solution… but not if the aim is to gain YT views.

They’re labs. That’s just a mobile diving platform.

Although I had a bit of a screwy weirdo lab, who was terrified of water and unable to swim.

Didn’t expose him early enough.

Reminds me of this scene from Nanook of the North, which proceeds a bit slow but is worth watching all the way to the end:

I think the running-around-in-circles is key.

Be very careful about icing dogs.

Icing an overheated dog can make all their blood coagulate.

@Bobo can back me up on that. He’s an actual veterinarian.

Wow!
Thanks.

I had no idea, and although I don’t have a plastic kiddie pool or the kind of dog that likes ice (he’s pretty big, and he does love lying down on cool ceramic tile floors), I am faintly horrified that there were so many of these dog+ice on YouTube.

I really appreciate this heads up.

Yup. Cool a dog too quickly, and you can send it into DIC (disseminated intravascular coagulation). Basically what LDoBe said, but here’s more detail for those interested.

https://www.merckmanuals.com/professional/hematology-and-oncology/coagulation-disorders/disseminated-intravascular-coagulation-dic

Of course, if the temp is at/near the brain frying 108F, then you’ve got to weigh your odds…

But alcohol on foot pads, and cool water soaked towels (changed very frequently) on the body can cool pretty quickly without much risk of DIC.
