Camping on public land to become a felony in Tennessee

Looks like Tenn was under counted significantly in the recent census. As a result they stand a chance to receive less government funding. I’m guessing assistance programs and the like will take a hit.

But they won’t be convicted felons that way and they’ll still be able to vote.

Tennessee is about to become the first U.S. state to make it a felony to camp on local public property such as parks.

I’m wondering how they make the legal distinction such that backpacking campers aren’t illegal. The “24-hour notice” clause? Except it’s not uncommon, when camping, to be at a site for over 24 hours: so, it must then rely on selective enforcement: a cop will “know an illegal camper when he sees it.”

Nope, it’s a real thing.

Unfortunately for me, I live I TN and have second hand experience about this as Pussycat was a census manager in the last count. Not only was the entire operation rat-fucked from the start by you know who, but several of the census takers she managed were harassed and intimidated by gubmit hating rednecks. So the racist nazi idiot count is off.

I suspect that projects like this are a trial run for conducting headcounts in the future:

This reminds me of a political cartoon I saw a lifetime ago, during the Reagan debacle. I’ve searched for it online without any luck. Maybe some Boinger out there knows where to find it.

Ronnie and Nancy are dining in a fancy restaurant. Their table is next to a window. A desperate homeless family stands outside looking in. Reagan says: “We must do something about this poverty! Waiter, get us a table away from the window!”

This wasn’t supposed to be literal…

I spent several weeks living in a school bus in Tennessee this winter.

The skoolie community is talking about this a lot.
