I kind of wish there was a Marvel character devoted to taking out the trash like gaimer-gate and fragile ego types.

Don’t recall one at Marvel.
But DC has Green Arrow. After the famous arc with Green Lantern where Arrow basically spends the whole time pointing out how America is fucked he’s periodically faught racists, corrupt politicians, real estate developers etc. And his stories were often enough political, and the character well enough established as a leftist. That people were positively describing him as the social justice superhero.
So DC went with teen angst Batman for adapting that one.
