At the same time, the fossil fuel company executives – who had the same understanding of the situation – countered by spending millions of dollars on their own version of tobacco industry BS and lies playbook. We should by all means honour Sagan, and do so in beautiful ways like this. But the bad actors need to be held to account in substantive ways too.
