Cash, $3 million, found in barrels of raw pork

The trick is to train a dog that DOESN’T get overly excited in the presence of bacon.

The dog that can smell a wad of cash in a waterproof bag inside a bag inside a bag inside a barrel of pork wrapped in plastic inside a truck doesn’t exist.

So yeah, parallel construction.

If I was defense lawyer, I’d test that dog with the Brady Bunch defense.

Given the total ‘volume’ of the $3M, it’s possible that the K-9 picked up on the presence of cocaine on all that cash and in spite of all that pork and plastic.

I find the ‘US Currency’ detail of that statement perplexing. Have they had larger seizures of Brazilian Reals or Indian Rupees that are excluded from the set? Is Cleveland a bit hotbed of multi-currency crime?

It all sounds completely kosher.

Wow, there must have been an awful lot of money in those barrels (for them to have claimed $3million).

Given that, if this story circulates through Ultraorthodox Jewish communities, their rabbis may have to institute a ban on all cash transactions or something…

I mean, it’s clearly illegal money, but the seizure and ultimate fate of it (hello, police asset forfeiture fund!) are pure chicanery.

These guys need to get with it and move their money laundering to Amazon:

Who ratted out the operation? No way in bleep is this just a random stop.

These police dogs don’t do anything.

Not true. I had a forgotten apple in my bag once, coming through customs from England to the USA, & couldn’t figure out why the cute beagle in the green vest was following me until her handler asked me to step aside.

Deputies became suspicious of the truck when a K-9 alerted to the trailer, the post says.

Doesn’t make any sense, right?

My guess is that one or all of these is true:

  • The cash was contaminated by the drug product, either on the drug dealer’s end or the drug consumer’s end;
  • The smugglers used the same truck for transporting the drugs in as they used to transport the cash out, and there was contamination;
  • Deputies simply routinely illegally search trucks and if they get a hit, they say the K-9 “alerted”.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

ya wait a minnnit don’t you just pay for the drugs that enter and then reap the benefits locally… oooh wait I guess they were buying their NEXT batch of drugs. but to say returning the profits from drugs is really stupid. its probably so it is implied that the illegales are in charge of the whole thing and the sole people who profit - build that wall! meanwhile there are a large amount of legit American citizens all mixed up in this mess.
