Cat discovers an effective method for dog shutdown

There is less hostility here than people want to believe. The dog wants attention, probably feeling separation anxiety when its humans vanish. The cat hears the barking and comes in to find out what the problem is. (The cat is already the dominant party – head cat in charge.) The dog now has someone’s attention, so it shuts up. Having solved the problem, the cat goes for a nap under the bed.
