It’s the perfect wheeze: a con-artist whose stories about being a con-artist were the con.
These guys can’t help themselves. The thrill of conning someone is worth more to them than any amount of money. A lot of them get caught because they keep pushing and pushing long past the time a normal crook would have collected his winnings and gone home.
We reached out to Frank W. Abagnale Jr. for a comment on this story. He emailed back saying: “I have not read the book, nor do I think it is worthy of a comment.”

I don’t care. I take “based on a true story” with a grain of salt as it is. It’s still an entertaining movie. Great actors, gorgeous cinematography, and the John Williams score is absolutely amazing.
But he did go to da moon though right?

FBI agent Carl Hanratty was real. However “Tom Hanks” is actually just a special effect created by Industrial Light and Magic via the motion capture talents of Andy Serkis.
