The acute phase of a COVID infection (i.e., while you are testing RAT+) may be asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic - no fever, no cough - but you are still contagious, so “feeling good” is unfortunately a poor metric.
QFT. I went shopping and had a dental appointment, and noticed I had a slightly scratchy throat when I got home. The next morning, I definitely had a cough. Tested for COVID, came back positive, and had to call my dentist’s office and apologize profusely for possibly exposing them, albeit unwittingly
Never had it that you know of. Some people who get Covid are asymptomatic.
Selected Masto discourse on the matter:
Yes: that I know of.
Avoiding people like the plague, testing regularly and masking could have still failed me, and I could have had it without ever showing a single symptom.
That is possible, if not very likely.
Thank you for telling me what I already know, and what I have been worried about for 4 years now.
Good day.
There’s a pretty good description of “asymptomatic” in one of the very early COVID threads, with contributions from doctors and microbiologists. Here’s the tl;dr:
Asymptomatic when it comes to COVID doesn’t mean completely without symptoms. It means that it can easily masquerade as a cold or flu or even allergies. But if one is diligent about testing with any symptoms at all, then it’s unlikely to slip by. Because even infection itself, when it comes to viruses like COVID is not either-or. It’s a statistical function. By this time almost everyone who hasn’t completely isolated has been exposed to COVID, and even people who have never felt any symptoms at all and would not test positive have had at least some cells turned into viral particle factories. But their immune system fought it off before a critical number of cells became infected. Those people were also not functionally contagious at that time, shedding a small number of viral particles but not enough to get someone else sick.
So it’s safe to say that someone who has had zero symptoms or who has had mild symptoms and tested negative every time actually has not had COVID.
It doesn’t matter if you have CoVid, a cold or the goddamn flu. Just stay the fuck home!
Please! Just! Don’t!
There’s too much literature out there about Long Covid to wander down that road.
As if anyone wants to invite a legacy fuckeduptitude that leaves you with a forever handicap that leaves you MAGA stupid?
