Cheap, rechargeable AA batteries for high drain applications

For any use which is high current-drain, rechargeable Li batteries are almost always recommended. Alkaline batteries under high drain can get pretty hot (not an issue under water, I guess) and this might damage the equipment.

It’s why some/most digital cameras use rechargeable batteries.

Would they be suitable for powering a lunch box-sized cotton candy machine?
