Comics about men being 'deceived' by makeup

No disagreements on my end!

He certainly sounds naturally fantastic. Or rather,

HE SOUNDS FANTASTIC

Itā€™s like when you google ā€œ(Starā€™s Name) no makeupā€. Most of the photos you get are natural makeup, but definitely made up. This is one of the top image results for ā€œScar Jo no makeupā€.

Yeah, thatā€™s makeup. As lovely as the woman is, she doesnā€™t photograph like that bare-faced.

Hey, my lips are naturally shiny and the color of pale french lavenderā€¦ Okay I promised to stop lying today. They are stained purple cause I love pickled beets so much.

As a dude that has been in a number of very small theatrical productions, any makeup around my eyes I canā€™t stand. I donā€™t know how people do it. It just feels so heavy.

If you can feel your eye makeup, youā€™re wearing it wrong. Also: theatrical makeup =/= normal make up.

@manybellsdown - I come back to this Lindy West article taking down what men say they like, versus what they actually like. Because its not actually a low-maintenance makeup free lady, its a woman who looks that way and maintains the fiction that that look occurs naturally.

Theatrical vs normal, heh, donā€™t I know it. But even the times Iā€™ve worn eye liner I can feel it. Itā€™s probably just me. And donā€™t get me started on me wearing fake eyelashes, Iā€™d rather have my pinky removed. (Shudder)

I guess what Iā€™m saying is I am the biggest stupid git in the world.

I can do my own eyes, but I HATE having someone else do it. My daughter convinced me to let the Sephora lady give me a ā€œsmoky eyeā€ and I was just wincing the whole time.

Itā€™s foundation I donā€™t like. Feels like my face is frosted. But I also spent a lot of time in theater so even if itā€™s regular foundation I associate it with the feel of some Ben Nye pancake.

From the article:

And third of all, MAYBE SHE JUST LIKES DOING HER NAILS BECAUSE ITā€™S FUN. Sometimes women get to make our own decisions and do things because those things make us happy.

You know, men can get the same effect without people looking oddly at them by visiting a Turkish barber. There is very little functional difference between that and being pampered, and it actually looks more manly to everyone around you, because beards.

ā€¦ok? Iā€™m not sure I understand your tangent?
Everyone should get some pampering yes. But only women get called ā€œhigh maintenanceā€ if we do.

Turkish barber?

ā€¦tell me more?

I know Iā€™d rather do my own nails than go to a salon. Although itā€™s nice to be pampered and have a hand massage and not get polish all over my left hand because I canā€™t paint with my right, I also canā€™t stand the smell of nail salons, and messing with my cuticles makes me want to hurl.

Plus I chip most polish within 5 hours of putting it on, so I donā€™t really want to spend $40 on it.

Hardly wrong, just a different use case than dailyā€¦ er, ā€œnaturalā€ wear.

My eyes are incredibly sensitive, between the applied falsies and eyeliner, my eyes tear up at a momentā€™s notice. The best I can hope for is laying down more coarse liner and then using liquid over.

Years of watching project runway have prepared me for this exact moment.

I wouldnā€™t say false eye lashes are ā€œnaturalā€ make up though?
I canā€™t wear them, I am also super sensitive, but Iā€™m wearing eye shadow and mascara now and I canā€™t ā€œfeelā€ it. Hell I often were black liquid liner and forget its there and smudge the crap out of my face.

Iā€™m saying that men can get pampered without being called high maintenance. Having people pay attention to you and looking better at the end feels good and is completely normal, so men should stop acting like itā€™s weird or that women are weird for liking it.

ETA: Chinese massage is also great. Itā€™s a firmer massage, so itā€™s good after exercise and very relaxing, except for when the guy next to you has decided to watch The Walking Dead on his phone.

Iā€™m just suggesting that drag/glam and the aforementioned theater usages would definitely lead to feeling it without being the ā€œwrongā€ application. Sometimes ā€œnaturalā€ just wonā€™t do
