I really enjoyed the one I went to. Very interesting experience, both for watching styles of porn I normally wouldn’t, and just the act of watching porn in public.

Is this a Chuck Tingle adaptation?

I’ve gone 5 or 6 times. Every year year is fun and interesting. The audience is a pretty broad mix of demographics.

Most of the videos are not the stereotypical movie your are imagining now. A good percentage are funny or introspective that have sex and relationships content but are not trying to arouse. A good percentage are sexy and quirky and will entertain regardless if they arouse or not. A small portion of the videos, will make the entire theater hold their breadth in shock but it 's good to step outside of your comfort zone every so often.

In general the majority of the videos put the humanity back into p0rn. So if you don’t like the stereotypical content typically seen online then Hump! might just be what you didn’t know you needed.

Personally, I find Hump! most stimulating in an intellectual sense and really enjoying going out for drinks afterward with other attendees to discuss what everyone thought.

I’ve been curious, but it’s never been close enough for me to make the trip. The fact that no clip has ever been leaked is really awesome and a testament to either the crowd or the security (but I’m guessing the former).

I wonder what this event’s racial demographics are like.

They make it super clear that once the show starts, if they see your phone they will take it and break it no matter what.

In general the audience is supportive of the fact that people took a risk to make this content despite not being professionals in the industry.

It’s also pretty common to have many of the actors in the audience so stealing a clip is more clearly a direct offense to that person sitting two rows ahead of you.

At the Seattle shows I would guess 75% white. I’m not sure if that is more a reflection on the show or just Seattle in general. I always go to the show in Queen Anne which might also have an effect.

So when they say “none have been leaked”, have then been made available AFTER the event? Seems a shame for only a single showing.

I agree but not typically, to the best of my knowledge. Funny that you ask now, as I, for the first time ever noticed one of the former films on an adult Roku channel a few weeks ago.

It could be like a lot of indie art, it is also hard to disseminate. Doubly so for adult themed content.

Anyway, enjoy the show. Sounds fun.

I vaguely recall Dan Savage talking about that at some point in regard to many of the the videos getting away with using music and other third party resources that wouldn’t fly in regular distribution.

One of my favorite movies of the millennium-thus-far is Made in Secret: The Story of the East Van Porn Collective, a pseudo-doc about some people in Vancouver making a movie for a porn fest like this, the focus of which is really on exploring what “consensus” means in collective politics. At a time when, in America anyway, it’s rather difficult to pinpoint precisely what the opposing political sides might be able to agree on enough to get anything done, it’s rather utopian, but intriguing and hopeful, nonetheless.

I don’t doubt it was mentioned in the Boings, sometime around its release, back in '04: it totally hits notes a happy mutant’s likely to appreciate (particularly one of @doctorow’s political bent), although maybe not if you’re really just looking for porn.
