Hopefully, not in your jaw.
Obviously this sort of nonsense is tailor-made to be marketed to the credulous in circumstances where scrutiny will be limited; but as a matter of law, does anyone know if their claim to detect âpedophilesâ would theoretically make their secret-sauce system a âdiagnosticâ device that would be subject to FDA approval?
âTerroristsâ isnât a medical category, nor is âchild rapistsâ; but if you detect âpedophilesâ you are claiming to be able to diagnose a âParaphilic disorderâ in the DSM sense of the term, which sounds an awful lot like peddling a medical diagnostic test.
In practice theyâll obviously seek customers where this receives about as much scrutiny as the TSA pornoscanners received from medical physicists and radiologists; but were they to be held to the actual law, would they be essentially pulling a Theranos with this stuff?
Go to their âAbout usâ page and scroll down to âOur Teamâ. Apparently they give that one away as a demo.
The VP Product and Marketing doesnât have a picture. Is that because his picture identifies as a terrorist?
Certainly they donât seem to have discovered Google Translate, which for a company with a CTO and an R&D director does seem somewhat suspicious.

Sterngen HighTech turns out to be miraculous software that
converts a normal 2D sports feed to stereo 3D in a live on-the-fly process. The result is a genuine 3D video reflecting the real scene geometry as extracted from the 2D image.
TruMedia:
relies on proprietary video analytics technology to generate true viewing data for digital, product and POP displays by analyzing facial images of people watching the displays. This technology automatically detects and tracks viewersâ faces in order to measure true visual exposure to media and merchandise.
Evidently heâs a serial scammer.
It sounds like heâs been re-labelling rougly the same snake oil for a variety of markets; though oddly some of the technology sounds vaguely plausible; but he keeps coming back to the magic-facial-phrenology nonsense.
As the good M.C. Escher loved to demonstrate, inferring 3d structure from a 2d image isâŚnontrivial and sometimes not even possible; but for real-world scenes itâs very much an area of machine vision research(and, if you close one eye and look around, you can see that it is possible to infer some amount of 3d structure data without the benefit of stereo vision, though it is more difficult, especially for objects whose shape isnât terribly helpful), so that product sounds like an overhyped-but-plausible-and-maybe-even-useful-under-certain-circumstances thing. The repeated dips into facial phrenology nonsense, though, suggest that either the real product isnât good enough or isnât interesting enough; or that the âgenius visionaryâ isnât satisfied with the profit margins on selling real products.
Yup, it takes a special kind of racist idiot to sell the same pseudoscientific bullshit the Nazis used to try and exterminate your own people.
Unfortunately there are ignorant US and Israeli government officials who will gladly repeat history in return for 18 holes of golf and a nice lunch.
Ah, thanks for the clarification. You would still encounter issues where it is normal for people to alter their features (such as in many western countries where aesthetic intervention is a common component of dentistry). Perhaps you can baseline within a society, but I think that you would encounter a kind of âsmoothingâ of variation towards the average features.
Seems to be one of those mornings I guess. Wow⌠this thing really is getting a lot of use.
You tell me! I mean I donât know why the company developing this bullshit is Israeli, but they are.
I feel like I should be surprised because this kind of pseudoscience is very closely related to scientific racism, which Jews have suffered horribly under, so I would have hoped that Israelis would recognise and react against the commodification of a set of values which have been used against them.
Iâm not surprised because in fact the reverse seems to be happening.
At least the Communicator can spell.
so, 20 percent of them hide their faces, or do not have faces?
Why is it surprising? Theyâre different, theyâre helping cleanse the world of evil therefore theyâre on the side of good!
Seems legit! Apropos of nothing, does this company have any info on what having unusually small hands indicates
Iâm not surprised. If ever there was a case of people taking up the tools of their oppressorsâŚ
Gaza and Warsaw have more in common than I am comfortable withâŚ
Alright, Iâm just gonna go with toque = terrorist, glasses = pedophile. That should get me my 80%.
Oh no, youâve discovered their seekrit processes!
Blame Canada, eh?
Cleansing the world of evil with an 80% success rate, no less!
