Competitive Winter Picnicking in Brooklyn

I remember that winter, and wouldn’t mind a repeat. I’d gladly buy the birdseed, if something would take out the stinkbugs.

This year’s picnic starts at noon on March 1 at Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Park.

That’s adjacent to my old high school. I suspect the picnic’s worst would beat my old cafeteria’s best.

Ah… but can you still get a great pizza?

Yes! Minneapolis has James Beard Award-winning pizzas made by Ann Kim.

Did she make it NY style, or…

She’s a Columbia grad, so she would never betray NYC by doing otherwise (like *ugh* deep dish). But she’s got some inventive takes—her Korean BBQ pizza is killer.

There are Korean ‘takes’ on pizza in Koreatown in L.A. I’ve never tried them since I’m forever searching for proper NY style out here. Lamonica’s is close… but. Must be the ridiculously hard water out here in SoCal.

Yes, she has a NY style shop - Hello Pizza - that is very good. A friend who grew up on Long Island tells me it’s very good/authentic. I just think it’s yummy.
