Those who think that obnoxiously intrusive sponsorships and product placement are just a current-day phenomenon should look at these half-century-old clips; it seems that, despite that age not affording viewers as many technological tricks to skip or filter ads, the program producers went out of their way to obtrusively embed sponsor messages all over the place where you saw them even if you skipped the commercials. The hosts would include sponsor mentions in their opening spiel, and all sorts of logos and product-package pictures were on the show set. Many of them were alcohol and tobacco.
