Compilation video of things that fit perfectly

I got 2 minutes in and that was only symbolic. On what level is this vid valid?
I wash and wash and still can’t get clean after watching this. Please…no more.

Zero is way too high.

The MTA (nyc subway) did some repairs on some rusted out stairs in my subway station and did NOT make the stairs even. At a glance, it was more or less visually impercebtible but it was significantly awkward to walk up and people were stumbling constantly. They finally came and did a more careful job, but it surprised me how little tolerance I had for stair-height difference. I was an extra is La Boheme at the Met Opera once, and we had to march down some crazy Zeffirelli stairs without looking down. I thought that had prepared me for anything…

Vertical video? that is a nope…

It goes with out saying that there are far more things you could stumble upon which, if a nearly invisible change occurs, get you totally out of balance.

We are so used to many standardisations. And I’m not just speaking about things you walk across every day (which are the worst!). But sometimes it’s just the odd thing which even occurs once a year, but which you expect to be or behave in a certain manner. If it doesn’t, suddenly everything seems unhinged, uncertain and chaotic.

Should we start a collection?

First thing which pops into my mind is non-standard toilet paper. Even worse: papers on the same roll in different sizes. (How this is even possible baffles me, anyways…)

Came here to say the same thing. Perfect fit is often bad design, as it doesn’t allow for the inevitable warping and sagging. There’s going to be some seriously scratched kitchen cabinets in a year or so…

I just want to watch a video of things not fitting perfectly.

I think the building codes allow only 3/8 in. range in riser height. Seems like we could handle more, but I guess not.

I did cabinet work for years, lots of kitchens & baths. For every one of those perfect fits there are half a dozen ugly fails out there somewhere.

I find it ironic that it’s a compilation video of things that fit. with the exception of the video itself. Tiny, crap, vertical video on my widescreen monitor ruins the entire thing.

Do you live on the elevated N line in Astoria? - because those stairs (particularly at the 30th st stop) were unbelievably bad - uneven, broken, dangerous. I can’t believe the MTA didn’t get sued more.

I understand they have closed those stations now to make them more ADA friendly

Where does this expression come from!? I also remembered it being associated with perfect fits, but of course it’s pretty hard to search for that…

Missing the BoingBoing youtube channel. There could be lots of things like this.

It’s vertical video with a background added to fill a horizontal screen, so you can’t even make the video fit your phone screen.

It’s from the book “The Meaning of Liff”, which assigns place names to things which people know but which don’t have a name yet.

It’s online, too.
