Conservative commentator: trans people will replace humanity with 'New Species' that's 'Human and Part Machine'

i’m not sure they care about cis people. They just don’t want closeted transfolk feeling any sense of comfort or belonging or relief or hope. That’s the important thing, that they regret every second of their existence. What other goal can there possibly be?

Conservatives tend to be binary black/white thinkers. Many lack the mental capacity to think in terms of spectrum and lack any nuance in their world view. This is simply another example of fear of the other and fear of change. But more to the point, transhumanism scares the hell out of them. After all, it is the belief that humans can improve and improvement in their minds is an admission that they aren’t already special snowflakes.

People are freaked out about their kids—real or imaginary—having sex.

People are extra freaked out about their kids—real or imaginary—having different kinds of sex than they do.

People, and I use the word generously, think that transgender is a sexual orientation.

I’m sure there are sex-gender differences in non-human animals as long as they have some sort of culture, I’d just imagine there aren’t in a lot of them (some insects seem to have remarkable deterministic behaviour).

That’s why I chose wolf as an example. Because I imagine wolves have gender in a way that is very analogous to the way humans have gender They are a social species that has gender roles in society and that undoubtedly have individuals who run counter to those gender roles. If I were writing a human-wolf hybrid character I wouldn’t see any need to imagine gender in a new way. If I were writing a human-wasp hybrid character I would have to stop and think about it.

But unlike broccoli you can’t really suggest they try it…

Uh… the tag line of my chapter of Lesbian Avengers back in the day was “We recruit!”

I think that ending patriarchy in a deep and lasting sense very literally requires transgender: requires transformations of and transgressions against the established categories.* So in a sense, I agree: they should be worried. They are dinosaurs, and we are asteroids on a collision course with their world.

* And yes, that means I see transgender as not something that is an ontologically preordained biological fiat, but something that necessarily entails choice. Fun fact: transgender is one of the only health-related conditions that requires the diagnosed individual to self-diagnose. Someone doesn’t ID as transgender? Then they are, by definition, not.

How did you get titanium? I’ve just got stainless steel. Oh great, so “privilege” is going to carry over into our transcyberpunk future. The haves will get fancy materials like titanium, while us less fortunate slobs will have to make do with stainless steel and bailing wire.

(Tongue planted firmly in cheek, but I want a story based on this now.)

I honestly don’t think some of them are “pretending” anymore.

They’ve been huffing the toxic fumes of their hateful rhetoric for so long, that permanent brain damage has set in.

I’ve seen quite a few people have problems with the idea of someone having gender confirmation surgery then stopping identifying as transgender. They can’t imagine it’s because that persons gender and body now match so they don’t feel like they are transgender anymore, and assume it is because they are having regrets even if the person in question is telling them otherwise.

Even worse is the Daily Heil definition which assumes that you must have surgery before you become transgender.
