I assume he wasn’t wearing a mask? Our public health authority also doesn’t recommend masks for outside use by undiagnosed people, based on their literature survey; unfortunately, they also don’t recommend them for inside use.

In a region where spread is relatively high, if the trails are packed then the argument would be that you are possibly breathing particles from several people one after the other. It is not something I have thought much about, since I don’t find crowded beaches (or crowded trails) much fun, and avoid them like the…uh oh, bad idiom.

It is interesting how our social perceptions have changed as the disease has spread. Early last March, I had this post flagged repeatedly. Now I think everyone would just take it as a normal response.

However, if it looks like those pool pictures in the thread above from a day ago, please find other trails.

I wonder if there is any information on C19 cases resulting from the notorious spring break beach crowding in Miami last March. (Though I suppose it would be hard to know whether any transmission there was at the beach or from the partying afterwards.)
