Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 1)

He should meet with the asshole anyway. It’s just the flu. Walk it off.

That’s assault under regular circumstances; doing it during a pandemic should be attempted manslaughter.

In some cases they are making it a terrorism charge now:

And Florida is a “stand your ground” state…

How the hell did they release that guy on bail? And on bail which he could probably pay when going around with a hat in a Florida pedestrian precinct with a sign “I spit on people wearing masks if you pay me”?

If I’d have been there to witness it, he’d have been done, because I’d stick a fork in him.

I cannot begin to imagine what I would do if I witnessed that shit in person.

I doubt it would end well…

Just in case anyone is unaware, there are two sorts tests available currently. The antigen test is the rapid response test, which is horribly inaccurate, not much better than a coin flip or even worse than that. The PCR test is more accurate, but still not really reliable, with some reporting 20-30% false negatives as well as false positives. This opens up a gambit for those who have access to essentially limitless tests: Keep taking them until you get a result you like. Or as Gov. DeWine said, one you “have more confidence in.” Now, to be fair, I would have more confidence in the PCR test as well, and currently I can get results back in ~36 hours, but that changes constantly. The rapid, or Point of Care, test is what the White House uses on everyone coming into contact with Trump. So we do have that…

I mean, what could go wrong?

What?

Doc, I don’t think that can be correct. Seriously, that’s way to high false negatives.

Oh, and:

Shit. 24h max, here.

You ever look at these articles and think/say something like “well, let them f’n deal with that, damn morons”?

Because that’s where I’m at. I know that innocents will suffer for this and that a bunch of dummies are gonna get sick and die.

But I can’t feel sorry for them anymore; signing up for anything like this is plain stupid.

I never feel sorry for the people who go to these things. My first thought, and biggest worry, is how many of them will contract the virus and then take it elsewhere and infect others. As when I wear a mask, it’s not about individual little ol’ me catching the virus; it’s about me possibly being asymptomatic, and how the mask might be helping to avoid spreading that to others.

How much more reliable are tests used in other countries? I’m not seeing anything in the US that doesn’t look like a crapshoot, with long wait times for results. People who have been in proximity to someone who is ill or those who want to make sure they aren’t asymptomatic don’t seem to have good options.
