Because US Evangelical Christianity is an apocalyptic death cult. One of the Horsemen supposed to ride out at the Apocalypse (per Revelations) is Pestilence.
I was raised on this shit to the point that I can’t remember how to do times tables half the time, but I do remember how it’s supposed to go. It’s one thing that stuck.
So they want people to get sick. It’s just helping fulfill the prophecy. And putting them closer to eternal paradise, without all thse faithless losers.
