Hopefully that smoke alarm doesn’t go off again too soon.

Technically, it shouldn’t have stopped going off, all least for my country.

I suggest going for Google translate. Works reasonably well for German, with (sometimes unusual) exceptions.

Very well worth your time, IMO.

From the article:

Finnair is reportedly the first company in Finland to require customers to wear a protective covering over their noses and mouths because of the coronavirus pandemic.

But one of the last serving this part of the world. SAS, Norwegian, KLM, etc have all been requiring masks.

Kulonen noted that unlike Finnair, retailers cannot oblige customers to use masks. Kari Luoto of the grocery trade lobby group agreed with Kulonen’s assessment.

“Grocery stores do not have the same environments as airplanes. For example, there have been few [Covid-19] infections among our staff, and they have mostly come from family members or elsewhere,” he said.

This seems really wrong to me, a shopkeeper should be able to put a “masks required” sign on their door and enforce it. The rate of infection among grocery store workers is low in Norway too, but that’s because there are lots of protections in place (like shields for the checkout, and self-service checkout in bigger stores) which other stores won’t have.

According to PTY’s Luoto and the commerce federation’s Kulonen, the scarcity of protective gear has been one reason why retailers have not discussed masks with employees or customers.

Yeah, I have masks on order from the US for my upcoming terrifyingly-long flight through Covid hell, as they are mainly unavailable here.

How so?

A bit of summary would make your offer more tempting, or even some sense of its topic…

Sorry, I’m working currently and was trying to to be distracted.

Please keep in mind that Germany is in comfortable position of being able to “reopen” bit by bit, and that discussions how far this should go are very much ongoing.

Summary given above the interview:

The importance of aerosol transmission has long been in the scientific discussion. “The effects are slowly starting to appear,” said the Berlin Charité virologist, Christian Drosten, on Deutschlandfunk. This was shown by coronavirus outbreaks, such as most recently in a Baptist congregation in Frankfurt am Main or in a restaurant in Leer, but also the scientific literature. In order to reduce aerosol transmission, the viral load in the room has to be moved and carried out [of the building]- for example by regular ventilation. That could possibly be more important in everyday life than washing hands and disinfecting, according to Drosten. On the subject of opening schools and kindergartens, Drosten suggested that every teacher and educator be tested for the corona virus once a week - “as a calming or service function for these very important staff”.

Note: we are opening schools right now, bit by bit, until the summer holidays. In various degrees, but generally on a rotating schedule for pupils, with reduced classes, social distancing in class and on allo premises required.

ETA: might add some more bits later. Reason why I deem this is important: a) we are trying stuff out in Germany which might become a model for other re-openings, b) Drosten is on the top of his field in Corona virus research, and does an excellent job IMO communicating (also, and importantly, communicating the limits of his expertise).

There are bits in there also about Swedens approach and self-responsibility in general and the use of desinfectants.

Didn’t she pay for this beach vacation?

Well, yeah, but what has she done since then?

Many of those people would say “yes”. They only wear a seatbelt because the gubmint makes them do so. If it weren’t for those stupid laws, they’d take them out of the car entirely.

Those are easily the worst examples to give to these people.

E.g. there is no helmet law in AZ.
