Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 1)

“Transition to Greatness” sounds like an euphemism for mass suicide in some obscure cult.
Actually if I was writing a novel about obscure suicide cult, I’d borrow that phrase, it’s perfect.

Is a fabulous title for an autobiography by a transgender person.

Wikipedia: Hugo Chávez’s cult of personality reports that

Since his death, followers known as “Chavistas” refer to his death as a “transition to immortality”, commonly calling Chávez the “eternal commander”

Nah - we need to reclaim it and put it on every trans website - on T-shirts with the trans pride flag etc.

Take it away from them.

Old and busted: you aren’t using enough energy to keep the oil industry afloat. New and hot: your AC is killing the grid, so invest in batteries and torches.

I’m torn between incredulously LMAO and incredulously scared.

I just hope that if the grid takes hits, hospitals and labs have enough backup generators and other precautions to keep the critical infrastructure running.

Speaking from a (sadly) very Swiss / German perspective, the infrastructure of the US is just the possibly fifth most confusing thing about this country.

It’s a great piece of writing but i like how she writes it from the perspective of something that isn’t getting enough attention right now.
