Last night it was reported that there were under 1000 ICU beds available in the state of FL. That’s bad.
“ The aid is financed by a mix of philanthropies and Philly groups — most significantly by a $750,000 infusion from liberal financier George Soros, whose Open Society Foundations has directed hundreds of millions to similar relief funds in other cities.”
Wow - that guy is evil. /s
So that means there’s a four out of five chance that it actually doesn’t?
And if you’re in Miami, and the closest ICU bed is in Jacksonville, you’ve got big problems
It doesn’t help that Djokovic is a devout and outspoken antivaxxer.
And don’t mistake shrieking Trumpies for people who can read…
You’re right. What was I thinking…lol
Groan.
Sez allegedly stable genius:
In Germany, […] and many other countries, SCHOOLS ARE OPEN WITH NO PROBLEMS.
Sez I:
Schools in most of Germany are currently very much closer due to summer holidays. Also, before that, pupils were allowed to enter the premises with masks, had to socially distance, hence also were taught in smaller classes and, to compensate, in bi-weekly rotation. Also, allowing face to face teaching was rolled out slowly, starting with pupils of the Abschlussklassen (graduation classes is not the correct term, since after the graduation classes lower Abschlussklassen were invited in, which includes primary school fourth graders and others, depending on school form, who will change school from after the holidays).
There’s a hell lot more, but this happens when you give a demagogue access to a social media platform.
Just saying this because someone you talk to might mention Germany as an example.
(And, for the record, I expect schools closing down locally in autumn. )
I’m a bit of a tennis fan, but not a fan of Djokovic. I remember when he would routinely feign an injury to stop his opponents’ momentum during play. I had hoped that fatherhood made him smarter and gave him a since of humility, but apparently no.
Watch out for hand sanitizers made from toxic wood alcohol:
While the whole “airborne transmission” discussion risks devolving into an angels/pinheads argument, here is a pretty good summary using actual science. The tl;dr vesion is it varies by circumstance and largely, WDKS. Yet again.
As usual with Ars, the commentary is worth reading (mostly)
Might be of no clinical significance (that is is honestly the most likely outcome) but this throws more strength to the WDKS school of thought about this virus out there.
Hasn’t Haiti suffered enough ?
