And that ended because everyone got a vaccine that wasn’t even as safe as the ones they’re not getting now.
they tried “tax cuts for the rich, and that’s all”
but it doesn’t poll very well
Ugh, you can’t tell a virus to leave the kids alone…
I’m not seeing much discussion about the likelihood of seeing a worse-than-Delta variant coming from the Omicron wave. I’m pretty sure more transmission means more mutations means more chances a variant just as transmissible AND Delta-or-worse outcomes.
Perhaps Omicron, being fast & weak, can only make faster & weaker versions? I hope?
Coming soon to the capitol steps Jan 6th, 2025… it’s Blue Man Group
This is the thing, it’s definitely faster, but not weaker. The weird stat is that as a percentage of the infected, it sends fewer people to the hospital, but once hospitalized, you are no less likely to progress to bad or really bad. Why? Omicron infects the vaccinated-but-unboosted at pretty much the same rate as the unvaccinated, but the vaccine is still pretty good at keeping you out of the hospital. Don’t think for a second that omicron is a “kinder, gentler” covid. It is just as much a beast as it’s cousin, just better at it.

Just confirmed today with the pharmacist that they diluted the Pfizer vaccine with a bacteriostatic mixture of saline and alcohol. Sigh.
I guess this is a really common vaccine error and the CDC website also confirms that a reimmunization is required in this case. I’ll go get re-boosted once my parking lot is no longer iced over and it’s safer to drive.
Definitely not looking forward to another few days of feeling like shit just because someone screwed up the preparation.
This needs repeating.
It you want to tell someone something really important today, tell them:
And add:
FTR, Germanophone media sadly transported the message that Omicron might be less severe during the days before Christmas. Now, not so much…
The headline says GOP-led states, but the governor of Kansas is a Democrat. (The state legislature, of course, is a different story.)
Kansans had the good sense to say no to Kris Kobach.
Americans who test positive for COVID-19 but do not have symptoms can stop isolating after five days as long as they continue wearing masks, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on Monday, halving the agency’s previous isolation period down from 10 days.
The CDC also said it was loosening its guidance for quarantining after a COVID-19 exposure for unvaccinated Americans or those eligible for a booster who have not yet received their additional shot. It now recommends a five-day quarantine followed by five days of strict mask-wearing, but says that if quarantine “is not feasible,” it can be skipped as long as they wear a mask in the 10 days after exposure.
What could possibly go wrong?
Fuck. He’s running for Kansas Attorney General in 2022.
Ouch…
Whiny asshole plague rat says what?
UVA has set a 2/1/22 deadline for boosters. In this area there is a 3 week wait for them. Fun times for poor planners.
