Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 3)

WTF, he gets tested everyday!?!

If he’d just wear a mask, he could save the state of Texas some money.

I would guess he would be a high risk patient. Could end badly, but probably won’t because that’s how this seems to play out.

Another fool who thought he could test God like that

Yeah, the sci-fi reference is right on. These are the resources we have. We cannot exceed them. If we do, children die. Period, end of subject. Catch is, there are way too many who don’t care, don’t believe it, or do and think it would be hunky-dory if that happened. The can all pound sand. Children will die unnecessarily, nurses, doctors and other providers will fall trying to defy those equations, and we will all pay the price. Because it was inconvenient to do something to prevent it. I am sorry if I sound bleak, but I am exhausted, it has been a very long day, and there is zero chance it will get better with school just getting under way here. I really really hate this timeline.

This includes airports office spaces as well.

so they only eat carrots plucked straight out of the ground i guess. avoid all alcohol and soda. no supplements, make-up cologne or perfume. no processed meat: only pure undomesticated cow. they don’t wear clothes because of the laundry soap. and they prefer grunting over speaking because language is all made up gobbledygook anyway

sigh

They’re extinct. No burger for you!

Very tangential, but I finally got my first “proper” haircut since this whole thing started. My hair cutter was new to me and very kind, and you know how people chat in that scenario. She brought up the schools and the stresses that she and the others at the workplace went through when everything shut down. I mentioned an acquaintance who had been lucky enough to have a gig in New Zealand starting last April and lasting several months, and how he got to avoid all the major disruptions of this whole thing bc NZ shut their shit down, stopped community spread, and then we’re back to normal very soon.
She legit did not believe me, had no idea, was completely shocked that other countries had figured this out.
It’s one thing to decide we don’t want to do something because, reasons. It’s another to not even know that nations have done stuff, and it works. :woman_facepalming:t2:

Thanks. That was a good read. Some parts relieved some anxiety and other parts increased my anxiety.

I’ll get the booster when it’s available and continue wearing my N95 indoors when around others.

I hope I’m still around in 25 to 30 years to see how the history books tell the story.

I’m guessin’ the conclusion will be… It didn’t need to be this way.

I’m seeing more and more pieces like this commentary, often from medical personnel (although this person is a journalist). Basically: I’m fed up and I’m not going to take it anymore.

Not sure I’m as optimistic as the good doctor is about what the path to an endemic Covid strain would look like, but this is one discussion of the possible endgame that’s at least worth thinking about.

Despite being asymptotic, it’s straight to the fucking gilded monoclonal antibodies for him!

No, seriously.

Bah, it’s so fucking disgusting.

I don’t think this has been posted here yet… I think it explains expresses how frustrated so many of us feel arguing with anti-vaxxers, and it’s a freaking bop.

We are just now coming out of the Obon holiday season here in Japan, and prefectures throughout the country are now reporting record numbers of cases. Three prefectures are reporting over 1,000 new daily cases for the first time ever: Fukuoka, Aichi (home to Nagoya) and Hyogo (home to yours truly), while Osaka Prefecture is reporting over 2,000 new daily cases for the first time. Okinawa, with 761 cases today, has the worst infection rate per capita, with 310.32 cases per 100,000 people over the past week. The figures for the Metro Tokyo are falling just short of record levels (except for Chiba, which set a record at 1692), while the country as a whole hit a new daily record at 23,917.

Meanwhile, I have a cough, a sore throat and a slight fever (around 37C) in spite of being fully vaccinated. My usual clinic is closed on Wednesdays, but I will call and set up a PCR test (only if the doctor thinks necessary) tomorrow. Oy vey.
