Are clowns forever ruined? Do people even hire them for birthdays any more? I love a good clown, but clowns like this make it difficult.

Clowns weren’t on a good footing to start with. Sure they had a brief heyday as children’s entertainers, but there’s always going to be a hint of mystery about the person in the face paint, and that mystery is very easily turned into outright horror with some creative storytelling. Extrapolate the use of clowns in that way in pop culture and you’ll get more and more cases of people adopting the image for real world mischief and misdeeds.
