I heard this on community radio station from the next county over while on a drive. Some Google-fu and I thrill to the frisson of serendipitously finding a new-to-me artist: featured vocalist Lee Fields, of Lee Fields & the Expressions. LF & the E are contemporary but have a 70s soul feel:

So good. My brother in law is in the biz and has worked with McCann before. I remember him telling me how Les once said to him, “nothing worse than a white man in a dashiki”. That’s always stuck with me because damn if it isn’t true.
